Immune System Dysfunctions

The immune system refers to a complex set of processes in the body that are fighting infections in the body. The immune system involves the blood, skin, intestines, lymph fluid and many other areas of the body. The immune system can be affected by two types of dysfunctions – immunodeficiency and autoimmunity. Immunodeficiency is characterized by the body’s inability to respond to unwanted organisms and therefore does attack these. Immunodeficiency may result in infections, thrush, diarrhea and chronic or continuous disease. The other dysfunction, Autoimmunity occurs when the immune system attacks healthy parts of the body, confusing it to be an unwanted organism in the body. Autoimmunity may manifest itself as the diseases, lupus, fibromyalgia, psoriasis and eczema. The dysfunctions may be treated with herbal medicine, Homeopathy, breathing techniques, stress management techniques, exercise, acupuncture, massage, and mind-body therapies.
