Paget’s Disease

Paget’s disease is a disease that is characterized by accelerated bone turnover, resulting in bone that is enlarged, weak and fragile. The bone is often warmer to the touch due to an increased blood supply. Symptoms of Paget’s disease include pain, warmth over the affected area, tiredness, changes in bone shape, weaker bones that break easily, and hearing loss. Treatments include medications, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), relaxation, surgery, gentle exercise, heat/cold therapy, and calcium and vitamin D supplements.
