Pyloric Stenosis

Pyloric stenosis is an obstruction or narrowing of the opening between the stomach and small intestine. Most infants that develop pyloric stenosis are between two weeks and two months of age. Symptoms include vomiting progressing into projectile vomiting, changes in bowel movements, failure to gain weight, lethargy, dehydration, and persistent hunger. The treatment for pyloric stenosis is surgery and fast treatment is required. Lost fluids also need to be replaced. As well as surgery, the following may help: nutritional supplements for the mother, herbal or homoeopathic remedies, and acupuncture or massage may also be used.
