Helen is a Counsellor , Couples Therapist and Mediator of 15 years experience.

Society seems to tell us we should be able to sort these things out ourselves. Often we can, of course and very successfully. Sometimes, however, itís helpful to have someone alongside , not to advise or tell us what to do, but to explore the issues with us, explore our feelings, thoughts and behaviours and to help us discover our own insights and answers.

I use a model of couple therapy called EFT for Couples (Emotionally Focussed Therapy for Couples) that has been demonstrated through thorough research to improve relationships. I have attached an article for you to read which will help to explain it. In short , by getting to the very heart of the matter, this model of therapy can provide deep and lasting change in your relationship. By getting to the heart of the matter it can restore intimacy, both emotional and physical .
If you are have been struggling with an issue, whether it is within the family, between friends, in the workplace, or between neighbours, I may be able to help. I have 16 years experience as a mediator, two of those years as a supervising mediator. Most of my mediation experience has been in tenancy matters and within the counselling framework at the Family Court. However, my training is broad based so am able to work with the majority of dispute situations.

Apart from some years working and travelling overseas, I have spent the majority of my working life in Auckland, both in the City and various other parts. I have a daughter who is now well in to adulthood. My non-work activities include mindfulness meditation (which I also teach), walking in the bush and dancing whenever I can.

Sessions and Fees
Our first session will be an opportunity to meet and where you can decide if you feel comfortable working with me. It also provides an opportunity for me to assess whether I think I can help or not. If not, usually I can refer you to someone who can. After the early assessment period, we will discuss the approximate number of sessions that might be needed.
Fees for mediation will be negotiated and based on the complexity of the circumstance.
