INTRODUCTION
Our clinic is located in Otahuhu Shopping Centre in Auckland City, at 296 Great South Road, established in 1990 by Mr. Lin (Principle of the Association of Taiwanese Buddhism) and Doctor Huang ( Malaysian and now overseas), intending to spread Chinese culture and help low income people in South Auckland. At that time, the local people didn't know what acupuncture is and didn't believe traditional medicine. Only a few people who had suffered from severe diseases for long time and hadn't got response from western medicine and felt desperate then came to see us to try. Now our customers come from all around New Zealand and even from other countries like Australia, Pacific Islands, and England to here just to see us. Because the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has its own advantages compared with modern medicine so a lot of patients got more response to traditional medicine. You can't believe most of our customers are Kiwis. Now nearly everybody in NZ knows TCM. A lot of people not only see us because of no response to western medicine but also know in what kind of condition it is better to see us. Some people even always see us first. We always refer some patients to see their GP or other practitioners when they need or we are not 100% sure. At the same time more and more other practitioners refer patients to see us. The practitioners now working in our clinic are Mr. George Huang and Ms Alice Yang. George has worked as a medical doctor for 8 years in the 2nd TCM Hospital of Guangdong Province (one of the biggest TCM Hospitals in China using Traditional medicine together with modern medicine) and 1st Affiliated Hospital of Zhongshan University ( one of the biggest of western medicine hospitals in China). Alice has lectured at Guangzhou University of TCM and worked as a TCM doctor in 1st Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM for 8 years too. There have never been conflicts between us and western doctors in NZ because we respect and understand western medicine and have experience on combining modern with traditional medicine. And we always recognize that the patient's health and benefit are more important than our health and benefit. ACUPUNCTURE
What is acupuncture? In reality Acupuncture are practiced medical treatments that are over 3000 years old. Very basically, Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles, on the body's surface, in order to influence physiological functioning of the body. Acupuncture has already been recognized by New Zealand Government along with most of countries in the world and WHO. In New Zealand, there are some universities and colleges offering acupuncture courses. All registered members are ACC treatment providers. Most of the people know that acupuncture is good for injury, muscle pain, etc. Does acupuncture hurt? Most people who have had acupuncture would describe it as virtually painless. The sensations that follow range from nothing at all, to mild tingling, to slight numbness, to electrical pulsations in areas distant from the site of insertion. All these sensations usually subside once the needles are removed. Is acupuncture safe? Relatively few complications from the use of acupuncture have been reported in light of the millions of people treated each year. Practitioners should use a new set of disposable needles taken from a seated package for each patient. Both practitioners in our clinic also have medical backgrounds so they can offer you very safe and professional acupuncture. HERBAL MEDICINE
Over the past thousands of years, Chinese herbal medicine has been used to treat various diseases in China, South East and North East Asian countries. Today, increasing numbers of acupuncturists, herbalists, medical doctors, and other professionals around the world are using it. Differing from Western medical theory and practice, Chinese herbal therapy pays special attention to the patient's objective and subjective symptoms and renders a holistic treatment based on the lifestyle and physical constitution of the patient and the determined cause. What kind of herbs are our clinic using? In our clinic,we are using herbal extract powder from Koda Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (www.koda.com.tw) and Guangdong Yifang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (www.e-fong.com) which have passed GMP authentications and re-authentications of TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) by Australian Govenment. They are the best herbal products in New Zealand market. Also they are the biggest herbal extract powder supplier in Taiwan and China respectively. Is TCM scientific and safe? Presently, there are over 28 universities of TCM in the 28 provinces of China. Over a million TCM doctors are working in thousands of hospitals in China by using herbal medicine or combining it with modern medicine according to the patient's conditions. All the herbs being used has been scientifically tested and analyzed by modern technology. Most of the herbs' effectiveness recognized by TCM has been justified by modern science. So they are safe and scientific. TCM also has been recognized by some western countries. Certainly, from the long term practice, we found a small group of herbs have side-effects if we don't use them properly. But the side-effects can't be reduced to a minimum while producing a higher therapeutic effect by a qualified herbal doctor. But in NZ they are not allowed to be used even though they are very effective. TCM have been written in books systematically at least for 3000 years. So we can clearly observe from the effects on human body and environment from long term experience. The modern medicine is 200 years old; most of the medicines only have been used 5-20 years. We can't forecast the effects on human beings and our planet hundreds or thousands years later. Relatively, traditional Chinese medicine is very safe, trustable and steady to human beings and our environment. We specialize in:
