Welcome to AyurLab

We're here to share a passion that we both found in Ayurveda – a science of life and art of living that forms the basis of wellbeing in India and the East. Over recent years, the Ayurvedic way of life has become increasingly popular in the West, with its gentle yet highly effective ways of bringing balance and joy to life. Its community-oriented approach is guiding an increasing number of people toward a more sustainable and fulfilling way of life. We offer a number of ways for you to explore Ayurveda a little more deeply. AYURVEDA BOP We offer a full range of personal consultations and classes to our local Bay of Plenty community. See our "Education" and "Consultation" pages for more details, or get in touch for information about our latest class offerings. DISTANCE LEARNING Learning Ayurveda is a dynamic and practical experience that doesn't necessarily fit within the restraints of a classroom timetable. We offer distance learning options that deliver the benefits of being here in person, along with increased flexibilty.

Who We Are

Glen began formal Ayurveda training in Auckland, New Zealand in 1996, completing a certificate from Wellpark College of Natural Therapies. Barbara was drawn to study Sanskrit language in New Mexico, U.S.A. in 1995. In 1996-97, we both began studies at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, U.S.A, founded by Dr Vasant Lad, a leading advocate of Ayurveda in the West. Barbara went on to undertake advanced Ayurveda and Sanskrit training and teach the Institute's Sanskrit program for 3 years. Glen completed the advanced Gurukula Studies Program and then we both spent some time in India doing further clinical study with Dr Lad. Glen also completed a series of Vedic Astrology courses with renowned jyotishi Hart DeFouw, and he had edited the three volumes of "Textbook of Ayurveda" with Dr. Lad. Both spent from 2003 to 2006 teaching part of the Ayurvedic Medicine programme at Wellpark College in Auckland and Barbara also taught the full Sanskrit programme. We now teach Ayurveda, Sanskrit and Herbal Medicine courses in Tauranga. Check out the Western Bay of Plenty Adult Community Education programme (classes.org.nz) for details of our upcoming classes.
