Our Techniques

CHIROPRACTIC

We use a number of highly-effective adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. The approach we use is based on our judgment and years of experience.

The primary adjusting techniques we use include:

Applied Kinesiology

Testing the strength of various muscles of your body help us find structural, chemical and mental problems revealed by a weak muscle.

Gonstead

Named for its developer, we conduct a thorough evaluation using full spine X-rays and a heat-sensing instrument for accurate adjustments.

Diversified

After identifying which vertebrae have lost their normal motion or position, a specific manual thrust is applied to free up "stuck" spinal joints.

Thompson

Thompson Terminal Point technique is a system of analysis and a special table that reduces the amount of energy needed to adjust your spine.

Activator Methods®

This is a system of spinal evaluation combined with a handheld adjusting instrument that delivers a consistent, low-force thrust.

If you’ve been to a chiropractor before and prefer to be adjusted in a particular way, let Dr. Comely know. We want you to relax, enjoy and fully benefit from your chiropractic care.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

Therapeutic Massage is a hands on therapy which manipulates the soft tissues of the body.

Focussed treatment work is usually designed to address specific problems associated with chronic musculoskeletal pain and tension.

Treatments include:

• Myofascial release

• Deep Tissues

• Swedish Massage

• Clinical Massage

Techniques will vary according to treatment needs.

Dr. David Comely

I have studied for five years and attended the NZ College of Chiropractic. I especially enjoyed the technique classes as it appealed to my desire to be an expert technician in providing state-of-the-art chiropractic care. I have since carried out further study and am Internationally Certified in Applied Kinesiology. I have been privileged to work alongside Dr. Brian Kelly, a recent International Chiropractor Of the Year Award recipient.

I am devoted to improving the health of my community while helping people live life to the fullest and maximise their potential in life. I will do this by optimising their spine and nerve function and by enhancing their consciousness of what builds good health for them specifically as each person is unique and has a unique system with individual needs.

People I have seen who get the greatest benefits from chiropractic are those who are willing to make changes in their lifestyle if needed and who are open to gaining a greater understanding of health. The most moving aspect of practice is seeing people who have tried many healthcare disciplines in the past with no improvement, getting life-changing improvements from chiropractic care.

Chiropractic Care to Enhance Self-Healing

Before studying chiropractic, nobody in my family, including myself had ever heard of or experienced chiropractic care. Then, I was introduced first hand to the philosophy and benefits of chiropractic care and how it had changed the lives of so many people around the world. Coming from a chinese family, the philosophy of the innate ability of the body to heal itself was familiar to me and my desire to help others is what brought me into the chiropractic profession. I love how chiropractic naturally enhances the body’s self healing mechanisms.

Chiropractic Education

My five years of study at Otago University and the NZ College of Chiropractic left me well versed in biochemistry, anatomy and physiology and radiology, while providing a valuable platform of chiropractic clinical experience from which to build.

My primary goal as a chiropractor is to inspire and empower people to live their lives at an optimal level of function, through their realisation of the importance of a healthy spine and of maintaining the integrity of the nervous system. I also endeavour to raise awareness around the importance of nutrition, exercise and stress management and how it contributes to a healthier life.

Outstanding Service

At Total Health Chiropractic, our emphasis is on wellness and optimum function. I look forwad to helping you achieve these goals, while sharing with you, ways to proactively improve your health by adopting better lifestyle choices. Contact me today, by calling our office or email me..

Sabine Cowan

Wellington Massage Therapist

A change in my life’s direction later in life, allowed me to pursue my passion for the ancient art of massage therapy, while satisfying my desire to learn more about the human body. I completed my Diploma in Therapeutic Massage at the New Zealand College of Massage in Wellington. Since graduating, I have worked in a number of different settings, such as community centres, private clinics and busy medical practices, which has allowed me to gain valuable experience which serves me well in practice today.

I am continually searching for deeper understanding of clinical complaints and one way I do this is through regularly studying new techniques to further develop my skillset. My experience has been that all too often, people suffer pain unnecessary which affects their enjoyment of life, when there are natural solutions to their problem, such as therapeutic massage.

My mission is to help my clients to get in touch with their body and to understand how they can feel great and get the most out of life.

If you have any questions about massage therapy or how it can help, please feel free to call us at 04 891 0911.
