The way I work
The therapy I practice depends on the way you present. I find sometimes a more physical approach is required at the beginning, in which case I will use Shiatsu. If the condition is acute and fragile Craniosacral Therapy is best, as it provides the space and opportunity for the body to self heal in its own time. Sometimes a combination works well, and I will always practice to provide the best therapeutic outcome for you. Clinic location
Unit 4, Gloucester Court 1 Franklin Road, Ponsonby , Auckland Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 11am to 4pm Saturdays by appointment only The best way to contact me is by email or on the landline, as I'm in a bad reception area for cellphones. What is Craniosacral Therapy
It is a very powerful and gentle treatment which does not use manipulation. The therapist listens, via the hands, to what is going on in your body, and identifies and helps to relieve pain and tension held there. In response to physical knocks or emotional stress, the body’s tissues contract. Any trauma, stresses, strains, or tensions which remain in the body restrict the body’s functioning and may give rise to problems over the years. The effects may be both physical (such as back pain, migraine or digestive disorders) and emotional (such as anxiety or depression). The Benefits of Craniosacral Therapy The therapy is client led and your body will set the pace of work, so you will remain comfortable, in control and able to integrate the changes that occur. Since it is your body (rather than your mind) that sets the priorities, you may find that the reason you came for treatment is not what changes first. Some people find that it can take a few sessions to get used to what they are feeling, so you may need to consider having a series of treatments to gain the full benefit of Craniosacral Therapy and its cumulative effects. It creates an opportunity for the body to release its restrictive patterns and return to an easier mode of functioning. By raising vitality and supporting the body’s own self-healing processes Craniosacral Therapy may help with almost any condition. It is often beneficial for fragile or acutely painful conditions, as well as during pregnancy, after an operation, accident, fall or injury, and for young babies. Craniosacral Therapy is good for: Acute and painful conditions, insomnia, depression, digestive problems, headaches and migraines, sciatica, joint pains, TMJ and jaw pains, and many more I have found it particularly helpful in the treatment of babies, as restrictions during the birth process may result in colic, sucking problems, breathing difficulties, restlessness and irritability. I have found it has a calming effect after a traumatic birth process assisting both mother and baby to recover. What is Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork. The word Shiatsu means “finger pressure”, and shiatsu is sometimes described as a finger pressure massage. Like acupuncture, shiatsu is based on the holistic system of traditional Chinese medicine, where illness is thought to result from imbalances in the natural flow of energy or qi through the body. Finger and palm pressure, and stretches are used to improve the flow of energy through the energy pathways called meridians. Shiatsu calms an overactive sympathetic nervous system, which improves circulation, relieves stiff muscles, and alleviates stress. Shiatsu combines a 4000 year old understanding of energy, derived from Oriental Medicine, with knowledge of anatomy and physiology The Benefits of Shiatsu Shiatsu is as relaxing as classic forms of massage therapy, no oils are used so you remain fully clothed during treatment on a massage table. I have had positive results with shiatsu for neck and shoulder problems, back pain, sciatica, migraines, stress, oedema, fatigue, insomnia and many more. My journey
I began to take an interest in alternative medicine over 20 years ago and qualified as a Shiatsu practitioner in London in 1993. I found the study of meridians very useful when treating my daughter who had severe sleeping problems as a baby. I studied Craniosacral Therapy after I went for treatment during a very stressful time running a small business and found it particularly helpful in grounding and providing me with clarity and focus. I qualified as a Craniosacral Therapist in 2005, and have had clinics in London , off Regent Street in the West End of London and in Highgate , North London. I emigrated to New Zealand with my family and now I hope to practice in Auckland, I continue to attend courses annually, the most recent ones being with Wojciech Tarnowski and Chris Castledine in West London on Dentistry and Cranial Work; Andrew Stones on Meditation, Emotion and the 8 Transverse Diaphragms; Mike Boxhall in France on the Blessing of Insecurity. Testimonials
Yeen has helped me an incredible amount over the last 6-12 months. She is a very compassionate, intuitive, skilled, sensitive bodyworker and therapist. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone, whether for physical ailments, emotional well-being, or just general relaxation and health boost. Miss S P My sessions with Yeen are always an amazing experience. She is truly intuitive and knows exactly what type and level of healing is right for you. Mr J C Yeen seems to instinctively know the right thing to do, whether its backache, frozen shoulder, buzzing mind or simple exhaustion. Within an hour she transforms me into a calm, energised and positive person. Mrs S E I’ve been seeing Yeen for several months now and I’ve noticed differences in my physical tension, stress levels and sleeping pattern. I find the treatments deeply relaxing and the results are instantaneous. I’d highly recommend Yeen and these treatments for anyone who wants to bring balance into their mind and body. Miss A M I first started having cranio sacral with Yeen over two years ago. I went to her feeling overwhelmed with my illnesses; I had recently had surgery on a pituitary adanoma and was dealing with a new issue, diabetes insipidis, as a result of the surgery. At first, every session released a huge amount of physical and emotional tension and trauma. But, as we progressed Yeen has helped me find a sense of well-being, balance and understanding of my body. Her work has been an invaluable part of my recovery and health. Miss T W Just a brief note to thank you so so much for all the help you have given me over the past months. I don't know how I would have managed without our weekly craniosacral sessions, to be honest I do not know how I will manage without you. You have helped me so much since my very bad bout of shingles along with all of the other ailments I came to you with, you managed to get me back on the right track. As you know I have a very stressful job and the weekly sessions helped me to cope with all of the day to day problems I come up against. As I said I shall miss you greatly and I truly envy those who will come in contact with your skills in the future they are truly fortunate. Mrs T M
