In some situations are some mild reactions including bruising and drowsiness. Your practitioner will discuss these with you prior to treatment. Is it painful? It will vary between patients - however a brief dull ache may be felt along with numbness or a heavy sensation. SInce the needles are very fine most of the time the patient will feel no pain. Is Acupuncture covered by ACC? ACC can cover injuries treated with acupuncture by a registered treatment provider. You need an ACC claim number from your GP or other health provider. You can use the same ACC number for acupuncture treatment whilst continuing with other types of treatment (physio, chiro, osteo) etc).
