Massage, Reflexology, Reiki Remedial / Relaxation Massage Massage therapy uses a variety of techniques to manipulate the muscular structure and soft tissues of your body. These techniques include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, vibration, rocking, kneading and compression using primarily the hands, although massage therapists do use other areas of the body, such as the forearms or elbows. All of the techniques are used for the benefit of the musculoskeletal, circulatory-lymphatic, nervous, and other systems of your body. The intent is to relax the soft tissues, increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the massaged areas, warm them, and decrease pain. In fact, massage therapy positively influences the overall health and well-being of you. Reflexology Reflexology is a holistic treatment based on the principle that there are areas and points on the feet, hands, and ears that map via the nervous system to corresponding parts of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas and points it stimulates the movement of energy along the nerve channels, and helps to restore homeostasis (balance) in the whole body. All the systems need to be working together well to maintain a healthy balance. Stress, injury, or illness can cause the balance to be disrupted. Reiki Reiki is a natural, vibrational, hands-on healing practice that supports the body’s self healing ability. Reiki is a simple and safe, natural healthcare system that can be easily learnt by anyone for self-care and the care of family and friends. Reiki sessions are offered as a complementary therapy and can be integrated into any plan to support improved health and wellbeing. One or a series of sessions may be required. Reiki sessions involve the client lying down or sitting comfortably while fully clothed. The practitioner places their hands lightly on the body allowing a free flow of universal energy.
Bowen Therapy Bowen is a gentle form of body work in which very subtle moves performed over the muscles and connective tissue send messages deep into the body, retrieving cellular memory of a preferred, relaxed, balanced way of wellbeing. Results can be remarkable, even from the first session; often only a few sessions are needed to correct the presenting problem. There are frequent but very essential pauses throughout the session that allows the body time to respond and begin the healing process. The practitioner can target a specific problem or address the body as a whole. The Bowen technique addresses not only the musculoskeletal framework, but also the fascia, nerves and internal organs. The body's integrated response improves circulation and lymphatic drainage and aids in the assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins. Bowen can help clients on all levels.
FJM, Rhythmical Massage Therapy When upright, the body is reliant on the foot for balance and stability. If any of the 28 bones in the feet are incorrectly aligned the whole body is affected. The knee can rotate inwards; this then affects the hip, which in turn effects the back, groin and stomach muscles. This abnormal stress can radiate up to the neck and shoulders as the body attempts to compensate for the incorrect alignment of the bones in the feet. A safe surgical-free technique to amend abnormalities in the structure of the feet. This technique is not painful, it is not massage, reflexology or using pressure points. It is encouragement of the bones to return to their original position.
Mother & Baby Treatments Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling). In addition, massage for pregnant women reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension -- which aids in better sleep -- and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes. Baby Massage Whether it's to soothe your little one to dreamland or to ease his gassy belly, a gentle massage can work wonders for your baby — and the power is in your tender touch. How can infant massage benefit your little one? It can help ease your baby’s tummy troubles and teething pains, boost his muscle development, calm him when he’s fussy, and soothe him to sleep. But the advantages don’t stop there: All that stroking and touching make it easier for you to bond with your newborn. What’s more, giving your baby a massage can help you find your own inner Zen, too (and who can argue with that?).
