Osteopaths are registered health practitioners with the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand (OCNZ) and ACC accredited providers. Osteopaths undergo 5 years of university training including a Bachelor degree followed by a Masters. They are trained extensively in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries and also know when it becomes necessary to refer a patient. If further investigation is required, your Osteopath will recognise this and is able to refer for X-rays, ultrasounds and further specialist care.

Osteopaths are primary health care practitioners who recognise the important link between the structure of the body and the way it functions. Osteopathy is a form of manual medicine which facilitates healing by focusing on how the musculoskeletal system, nerves, circulation and internal organs function as one unit. We can treat a wide range of conditions including back and neck pain, sports or work injuries and other joint or muscle disorders. We also assist with breathing or digestive complaints, and many other conditions which may have a musculoskeletal component.

Osteopathy is safe and gentle enough to treat people of any age, from young children through to the elderly. Osteopathy recognizes that your symptoms can be the result of a range of physical and non-physical factors (eg: work habits, emotions, nutrition). We make a thorough evaluation and then formulate a diagnosis taking into consideration you as a whole person with your own unique lifestyle. A range of techniques are used such as soft tissue massage, joint articulation, gentle manipulation, stretching, Muscle Energy Technique (MET) and prescriptive Pilates exercises.

You don’t have to be in pain to see an osteopath

Many people will present to a therapist once they have a problem, but often the problem is there well before you actually notice any symptoms. An osteopath is able to pick up on possible strains and treat them before they become an issue. You may feel fine now, but patients often report how much better they feel after a treatment.

We believe that every person is different, with their own individual patterns of tension and unique history. Therefore, there is no generic treatment protocol for a condition. Treatment is an art, taking an integrative approach using a variety of techniques and addressing your whole body, not just your sore spots. We want to help you reach your full health potential, making you feel great in your own body.

Mount Pilates specialises in small, personal Pilates classes, semi-private and private sessions.

Our studio is light and bright, with a warm sense of community. We really look after our clients and love being a part of your journey towards physical and emotional well-being.  We have a strong focus on quality education, individual attention and real results. All of our Pilates instructors are highly trained, with a broad knowledge base and share a genuine passion for what they do.

We only run small, intimate classes and pride ourselves on getting to know you as individuals with your very own unique physicality, lifestyle, and goals. Pilates is for every body – you don’t have to be in perfect shape to start.

If you find yourself sedentary at a desk or on your feet all day, or if you simply want to increase your body awareness, get fit and de-stress, Pilates is the perfect workout. It will bring you back to your centre and correct postural alignment, leaving the body and mind calm, stretched and renewed. You’ll feel stronger, move smoother, breathe better and stand taller.

Our classes are all done on Pilates reformer equipment, creating a full body workout that will engage your brain, too! The ‘Reformer’ is a spring resistance machine that sits on the floor and allows us to increase resistance and intensity to challenge you or provide support when you need it. We like to keep our classes small and personalised – 4 students per class – so that each client receives individual attention and guidance from our expert instructors.

Private and Semi-Private Studio Pilates sessions use the whole range of pilates equipment, including the Reformer, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and Trapeze Tower. We will identify your goals, undertake a movement study, and then write you a personal program to follow under close supervision of our instructors. Because we gain a deep understanding of your capabilities in a studio setting, we can really maximise your progression.

Here in Mt Maunganui we have fantastic beaches, fabulous cafes and lots of opportunities to have fun outdoors – it’s the perfect place to lead a healthy lifestyle. Regular Pilates sessions will help you feel your best so you can enjoy everything on offer. We recommend 2-3 sessions per week but even one session will be a great addition on the path to a fitter and healthier lifestyle!
