Welcome to Elemental Body Therapies At Elemental Body Therapies we provide a wide range of therapies to assist in maintaining your health and wellbeing including various styles of massage such as Relaxation, Aromatherapy, Pregnancy, Sports and Neuromuscular alongside other specialist treatments such as Bowen Therapy, Reflexology, Reiki, Lymphatic Drainage, Dry Needling and Kinesio Taping.
Our Team We have a team of four therapists offering a variety of styles to choose from for your treatment. We believe the client’s needs are most important and we will endeavour to place you with the therapist that best gives you what you need. If this does not happen, please let us know and we can place you with another therapist. Our clinic has multiple rooms with soundproofing throughout to create a private and confidential space in which to work.
Treatments Neuromuscular Therapy Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a highly effective treatment for the elimination of pain. It is specific targeted treatment based on a client’s history. The therapist looks at the body as a whole to find the underlying imbalances and then specifically works on the affected soft tissue areas to determine if the muscles are harbouring trigger points or have nerve impingement possibilities. When the affected muscles are located, cross fibre friction and acupressure techniques are used to release trigger points and break up adhesions, which in-turn decreases pain. Bowen Therapy The Bowen Therapy technique utilises small movements to the body stimulating its own natural resources to heal itself. The therapist delivers signals to the nervous system at specific locations (on muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerve pathways, blood and lymph circulation) which frees up any blockages and reconnections are therefore made which naturally brings about the best rate of healing based on your own body’s resources and level of injury. Reflexology Reflexology is a therapy that has been around since ancient Egyptian times. It is based on the idea that the organs of the body are represented on the feet, making them a vital map of the body. The foot is also ideally shaped and sized for the human hand as we can hold a foot naturally and easily. Reflexology stimulates the nerve endings on the feet (or hands) that correspond to areas of the body, such as the organs, soft tissue and joints. Any underlying problems in the body can be detected, stimulating the body’s natural healing response before illness or disease becomes serious. Reiki As we get stressed from a hectic lifestyle our bodies can get out of balance both physically and energetically. This is the channelling of Universal Life Force Energy. We are all made up of energy. Our hearts beat from an electric pulse and our thoughts are electrical signals being passed between neurons. Reiki can rebalance the energy centres and bring your body back into perfect rhythm and therefore you feel more relaxed and the “batteries have been recharged.” Some clients have said they feel lighter and more like themselves again. Lymphatic Drainage Lymphatic drainage massage is a technique used to encourage lymph flow in the body. A healthy flow of lymph supports the body’s immune system in fighting off toxins. The focus of this massage is primarily on the upper body, including the face, neck and underarm regions. The touch is very gentle, as the lymphatic vessels are located directly beneath the skin. Lymphatic massage and the consumption of water help to flush out toxins. Dry Needling Dry Needling for pain management is a highly effective therapy method for the treatment of myofascial trigger points. Combining dry needling techniques with neuromuscular techniques has shown to be very effective in the treatment of chronic pain and speeding up the recovery time. Kinesio Taping Kinesio Taping is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It involves taping over and around muscles in order to assist and give support or to prevent over-contraction. There are a couple of techniques a practitioner can use; the first provides support while still allowing full range of motion. This enables the individual to participate in normal physical activities with functional assistance. Relaxation Massage Relaxation massage uses smooth, gliding strokes and the main purpose is to help you relax. The massage therapist will move at a slow pace and use light pressure. During a relaxation massage there is less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or knots in the muscle tissue and the therapist won’t push your pain limits in order to get the muscle to release. Some clients even fall asleep during a relaxation massage. Aromatherapy Massage Aromatherapy massage uses essential oils derived from plants in the treatment of the body, mind and spirit to affect your mood and alleviate pain. Each consultation is individual and oils are picked for their specific actions on both the physical and emotional aspects of the problem you are experiencing. In aromatherapy massage, essential oils are mixed with a carrier oil like sweet almond oil for example, and the massage therapist will choose the oils based on what you need. Deep Tissue Massage Deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially good for chronically tense and contracted areas such as lower back tightness, stiff necks and sore shoulders. The massage strokes are slow and the pressure is deep and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. Pregnancy Massage Many women find it beneficial to have a regular massage throughout their pregnancy as it is a time to feel connected with your body and your baby. If the strain and stresses of the emotional, hormonal and physical changes of pregnancy are causing you aches and pains try our fabulous, relaxing pregnancy massage. Sports Massage Sports massage focuses on the prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons and the massage therapist generally concentrates on a specific problem area. It was originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance or to recover after a big event but you don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from a sports massage, it is also good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion.
