Welcome to the New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine This college is accredited by NZQA to teach NZQA approved courses and qualifications in Christchurch and Auckland. Welcome from the College Board Members. The Board Members of the New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine (NZCCM) take great pleasure in introducing and welcoming you to NZCCM. We have combined Auckland College of Natural Medicine with Christchurch College of Holistic Healing to create New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine (NZCCM). This College is fully registered with and accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). We are committed to providing the highest quality training in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in New Zealand. Our programmes are unique to New Zealand and recognised internationally, including by the Ministry of Education in China. The evolution of Traditional Chinese Medicine spans thousands of years. The knowledge is based on a unique theoretical system, which is evidenced by abundant clinical experience and scientific observation. Traditional Chinese Healing methods include acupuncture and moxibustion (herbal heat) therapy, herbal medicine and Tui Na (massage) therapy including Reflexology and Acupressure. The focus of TCM is to maintain health and prevent disease using a range of natural interventions carefully designed to support the balanced functioning of the individual. Rather than treating symptoms, TCM diagnoses and treats the physiological imbalances, which are the root causes of these diseases. Today, the curative effects of TCM are widely acknowledged and have attracted the respect of Western Medical Science. Many practitioners in this field are choosing to enrich their clinical expertise with TCM, bringing modern medicine into a new era. More and more people are seeking natural methods of healthcare which do not involve chemical medications, so a future career in TCM offers excellent rewarding and prosperous possibilities. Our ambition is to become an outstanding educational and resource centre for TCM, reflecting our close ties to the reputed Liaoning University of TCM and Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, in China. As a graduate of our college, you will have the chance to further your studies at Liaoning or Zhejiang. This step could have profound significance for your academic development and clinical career. NZCCM has two branches, Auckland and Christchurch, which resulted from combining the two College’s resources. We believe that the merger of these two institutions is a very important step for the development of TCM education in New Zealand and furthers our aim towards educational excellence. The two campuses offer you a choice of life style and programmes. Both are governed by the same quality management system and are overseen by the Board and the NZQA ensuring the highest quality of standards of both content and delivery of courses. I do hope that you will seriously consider joining us at NZCCM. If you have the chance to study TCM at one of our branches, you will experience a stimulating learning environment which offers you great opportunities for your professional development and future career. Whether you have enrolled or are considering enrolling in our college, we wish you the very best success for your future.
