SERVICES

Focussed counselling and time flexible psychotherapy to children, young people, adults, and couples. WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY, WHAT IS COUNSELLING? Counselling is a way of coming to better understand a particular issue or situation. Psychotherapy can help you gain a more comprehensive understanding of yourself, your thoughts, feelings and actions. Understanding the patterns that have dominated you, often without your realising it, can bring the possibility of choice and change. In sessions you can talk about whatever is on your mind. Together we will seek to discover what makes you who you are. Our work will help you to explore your thoughts, make connections and suggest meanings that you might not have discovered for yourself. As you continue over time you may begin to see yourself in a new light, and if so, start a process of change. WHO IS IT FOR? People come for all sorts of reasons. Some examples are:
  • Being troubled by their thoughts and feelings
  • Broken or difficult relationships
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Unable to think or work
  • A sense of purposelessness
  • Depression
  • Feeling desperate
  • Blocked creativity
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
Making Contact: You can contact me by emailing info@matthewharward.com or by leaving me a message on 02102929002. I will respond to you as soon as I can to arrange an initial consultation. It is usually useful to meet twice to initially discuss what is concerning you. I can then recommend what might be helpful. It is also an opportunity for you to consider if I might be of help to you. The fee for 50 minute sessions is $110. About me: I am a New Zealander with a BSc (Massey) in psychology and registered with the Psychotherapists’ Board of Aotearoa New Zealand. After completing training as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with the Arbours Association in London, graduating in 1998, I subsequently worked in the NHS, charitable sector, universities and in private practice in both London and Cambridge before returning to Wellington in 2008. I work both privately and in the public sector. In my private practice I offer short term focussed counselling, including EAP counselling, and open-ended psychotherapy with adults, couples, children and young people. I also supervise counsellors and psychotherapists.
