About Us
Reformer Pilates Here at reform we specialise in dynamic reformer based pilates. Like traditional pilates developed by Joseph Pilates, it is designed to look at how the body and mind work, while addressing the body’s natural balance through a series of precise controlled movements. These movements along with our unique ‘twist’, focus on the core muscles that support the body such as the waist and lower back muscles to improve posture, strength and flexibility. All this, as well as keeping the body running smoothly, reducing and preventing injury. The result is the toning of long, lean muscles FAST by combining exercise and stretching into your routine. Here is where Reform really excel from traditional pilates. Our dynamic approach is more intense, based on the ‘isolate, fatigue, stretch principle’, or in laments terms ‘find it (muscle), thrash it (exhaust it), stretch it. Integrating into this a combined weight training programme it is designed to slim figures, improve posture and build toned muscles, super fast. Reform combines controlled functional exercises, focusing on the duration of muscle activity to achieve fatigue, opposed to load (common in gym settings). Aimed at full body workouts, opposed to focusing on one muscle group per exercise, reformer pilates provide an intense session that’s easy on the joints, that will guarantee to have you screaming for more. What to wear: Comfy is best when you walk into Reform, so casual attire that allows you to move freely while exercising is perfect. Shorts and a tee or singlet and tights, it’s up to you. Because we will be working in the studio, shoes can be left at the door, our exercise is performed with socks on or off. Drink bottles and towels welcome. Sports Specific Training Wanting to take your sport to the next level? Need to develop a specific area? Returning from injury? Reform can develop programmes tailor made to your sport. With highly sport focused and experienced trainers Reform can help improve certain areas of your functioning to enable you to perform at your best. Using our reformers we can target muscles and whole body movements sequences that you wouldn’t usually achieve at traditional gyms. We dissect common movements and activities from your sport and break them down to minimalistic form, retrain them, perfect them and put them back together, allowing you to perform at your best. Reformer training is ideal for conditioning, strengthening stabilizing muscles and providing a high intensity, but low impact workout. It’s ideal for sport enthusiasts who need to give their joints a break 1-2 times per week, however require intense, challenging exercise to maintain efficiency. Returning from Injury? Reformer rehabilitation is ideal for those starting back from injury. Reformer training is ideal for easing individuals back into full weight bearing status and gently triggering injured and surrounding muscles and safely, without overload. Rehabilitation As reformer exercise is ideal for pre or post surgery and rehabilitation conditioning. Pre Surgery Our trainers can assist strengthening affected and surrounding muscles and improving joint flexibility prior to surgery, enabling your recovery to be noticeably enhanced. Post Surgery/ Rehabilitation Let us help you get back to full function. With close liaison with surgeons and other relevant medical staff where needed, Reform’s trainers can design a programme aimed at rehabilitating your injuries. Using our high tech machines we will teach you how to re-engage weakened muscles, carefully, assessing total body biomechanics to ensure your rehab is efficient and safe, enabling you to get back to optimum function Spin – Cardiolates What’s this all about?? Cardiolates is the perfect combination of intense calorie burning cardio using the latest high tech spin bikes followed by a gruelling session on our specialised Reformer beds. Cardiolates is ideal for those wanting to sculpt, loose weight and increase cardiovascular endurance all in one specifically designed session. And the best thing about it is it’s all low impact, eliminating jarring and pressure on joints and risk of injury. A little more info? Cardiolates is suitable for all levels, but it’s recommended that one is familiar with the Reformer first. The class is split into two halves, the first being on the bike. Here you will work to music focusing on raising heart rate, building cardio vascular endurance and primarily working and toning the lower body. It’s primarily interval training designed to burn more calories than working at a constant pace, incorporating skeletal and cardiac muscles. You will be in charge of your bikes resistance, therefore allowing everyone to work at their own level (while being constantly encouraged by our instructors). Off the bike and onto the Reformer, the second half is all Reformer based, working a combination of core, upper and lower body. With your heart racing you are guided through a sequence of highly functional exercises improving flexibility, muscle strength, tone and endurance while also burning calories. You will walk (or crawl) out of this session with a bag full of endorphins. Spin classes involve 50 minutes of hard core cardio, combining flat racing, hill climbing and interval training on our specially designed spin bikes. Following a trainer you will be challenged to push your body to limits increasing cardiovascular endurance and creating intense muscle burn that could only sculpt and tone. And it’s all done to music. It’s fun, it’s challenging and most importantly it’s a low impact workout making it beneficial for all levels. Maximum classes are 5, keeping it intimate and individually focused while providing some friendly competition from your neighbour. Bootcamp These sessions are designed for people wanting variety in their workouts and wanting an extra push to get to that next level. Classes are traditionally run in a group environment in an outdoor setting providing variety and challenge. Agility, speed, strength, mentality, and cardio vascular systems will all be challenged to exhaustion as you complete the activities set for you by your trainer. These are great for people wanting to lose weight, tone and increase cardiovascular fitness. It’s ideal for corporate groups or team sports providing friendly competition to push you to that next level. Classes will be run in 8 week blocks for people who want to see an end goal and have a target in mind as well as looking good for summer. Our boot camp combines 2 outdoor trainings per week and one indoor session on the reformer optimising your body’s ability to tone, increase core strength and achieve results. 8 WEEK SUMMER BOOTCAMP You pay $305 and you get:
  • 2 outdoor training sessions per week and
  • 1 reformer class per week
That’s 24 sessions! And your reward for all the hard work…..? One facial or one massage at the completion of your 8 week course. Limited spaces so book early! Outdoor sessions are Tuesday and Thursday mornings 6am. Dates: Tuesday 4th October to Thursday 24th November. For our current clients; if you refer someone for our boot camp you receive a free class of your choice!! Pregnancy – Post Natal Pregnancy Classes. Reform provides specialized dynamic pilate classes for women wanting to exercise pre or post pregnancy. Classes are catered for the individual or group of no more than 5 allowing the devoted attention of our trainer. Our pregnancy classes are specifically designed to provide a safe work out better preparing you for the changes your body is undergoing. During pregnancy, with the right exercise, it is understood that exercise brings unique benefits, helping to build suppleness, improve circulation and also to improve mood and reduce the likelihood of depression. Dynamic pilates also helps to build stamina and increase fitness, in turn, helping you keep up with your new addition to the family. Reform trainers carefully monitor your body’s changes during pregnancy providing programmes that condition the muscles which are necessary to maintain your balance. During pregnancy these muscles play an important role in helping to maintain stability and posture. Note: The general rule is that if you have already been exercising before you conceived, then it is likely to be safe for you to continue for the first trimester of your pregnancy. However if not, it is often best that you wait until your 2nd or 3rd trimester to engage in exercise. Reform advises all pregnant women to seek advice from your doctor or midwives prior to attending any class. It’s recommended but not essential to exercise with a heart rate monitor during pregnancy. Post natal. It’s simple. Let us help re-sculpt your body, build your confidence and give you extra energy to stay one step ahead of your baby. Corporate Services Reform offers a corporate service aiming to provide fun and active sessions for your business. Often used as team building activities or team dynamic building exercises Reform can host your work place at the studio, come to you, or meet at a specific venue. Reform also offers discounts for corporate groups by arrangement. Personal Training It’s all about you! Reform specialise in individual 1 on 1 training. Our highly effective personal training sessions give you the undivided attention of one of our expert trainers, tailoring to your needs this 30 min or 1 hr session is guaranteed to help achieve your body’s optimal shape and performance, boosting self esteem and mental wellbeing. We recommend personal training sessions to: Beginners who would like a personal introduction to Dynamic Pilates and the Reformer machine, learning how to turn on those all important muscles with specific techniques while in a friendly, comfortable environment. Postural Analysis for people who have previously been injured, or rehabilitating from injury, have muscular weaknesses of body imbalances. Reform trainers will take you through a standardised postural assessment designing a programme to target what your body needs to keep that kinetic chain running smoothly. Individuals who prefer the intimate setting of 1 to 1 workouts with your own trainer. Get the most out of your session with 60 minutes worth of expert, focused hands on guidance. Your trainer will motivate you to push harder, gaining greater results while putting a smile on your face. Physiotherapy Reform provides an experienced Physiotherapy service for people and sports teams. NZ and ACC registered our physiotherapist is specialised in helping you get back on your feet. Using our high level equipment to build and regain strength Reform treatment is client centred and aimed at making you feel and operate more efficiently.
