Meet Nash I am extremely passionate about the welfare of animals and the integral role that canine and equine physical therapy plays and aims to maximise their quality of life. I am looking to continually develop my skill set to better care for your animals. I have been extremely fortunate enough to have had the amazing backing and support from so many different individuals and as a result physical therapy has become an accepted service provided in the thoroughbred and performance horse world. I am situated in the Waikato region, my clients range from some of New Zealand’s most well-known racing stables to Grand Prix performance and eventing horses, to RDA horses (Riding for the Disabled) and general riding ponies.
Acupuncture & Electro Acupuncture Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine method that has been utilised for thousands of years. I utilise this technique on a regular basis with outstanding results to enhance blood circulation, stimulate nerves, relieve muscle spasm, behavioural issues and brings about the release of hormones, such as cortisol and endorphins.
Laser Therapy Needle shy horses can still respond to laser therapy of acupuncture points, in addition to using acupressure and muscle release. Laser therapy has a number of positive benefits including healing from wounds, rehabilitating from injury or trauma and from aging. Laser therapy is used to treat a variety of wounds, injuries, neurological conditions, fractures, numerous dermatological issues and pain. Acupressure A safe and non-invasive technique which is free of discomfort, stress or pain and provides significant results. Highly beneficial for needle shy animals.
Moxibustion Moxibustion involves burning of moxa, or her mug wort, which is applied to specific acupuncture points on the body. Moxibustion is effective for the prevention of disease and health maintenance. It is amazing for pain relief, enhancing circulation, increasing energy levels, providing an immune system boost and reducing blood flow to tumours.
Muscles Release Therapy Myofascial release broken down translates to “myo” meaning muscle and the connective tissue that surrounds and attaches the muscle “fascia”, hence, “Myofascial”. Myofascial is able to release and break up scar tissues and adhesions in fascia to reduce pain and enhance mobility throughout the entire body.
Equine & Canine Kinesio Taping The Kinesio taping method used is a technique designed to facilitate the body's natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body's range of motion.
