The Iyengar Yoga Centre of Hamilton (IYCH) was started in February 2003 by Matthew Smart and offers a range of classes from Beginners through to Intensive Level.

Yoga is an ancient art developed over thousands of years.
Iyengar yoga is a dynamic form of classical Hatha yoga which focuses on postures and body alignment which strengthens, realigns and balances the energy flow of body and mind.
Props such as walls, blocks, belts, chairs and blankets are used when needed for support and to facilitate correct understanding of the postures. The postures, along with conscious breathing, remove tension and stiffness from the body, restoring health, vitality and strength.
One can begin yoga at any age. It is not necessary to have a certain level of fitness or flexibility.
A regular yoga practice not only improves overall health and fitness, but brings relief to many common ailments e.g. back pain, stress, insomnia, aches and pains and leads to a calm, balanced mind and a deeper sense of well-being.
