Colour

Colour surrounds us in every aspect of our lives, yet how often do we give thought to the true meanings that they carry?  Because colour is a form of energy – with each colour having its own special vibration, quality and healing action – we need to be surrounded by all of the colours in the spectrum in order to be truly healthy.

What can Colour be used for?

Colour can be used for many things including:

  • healing and comfort
  • soothing and energizing
  • unlocking a person’s creativity
  • improving or changing moods
  • releasing energy blockages
  • relieve physical, mental or emotional conditions

By being aware of the power of colour, and using it correctly, it is possible to bring an unbalanced body back into balance and therefore improve health and wellbeing.

Understanding the Different Colours

It is important to understand that colours vibrate at a specific rate and those vibrations correspond to the inner vibrations of the body.  Different parts of the body responds to different colours, and when we are feeling ill, either physically, emotionally or mentally, using the appropriate colour can restore balance to the affected area.

Colours for Healing

For energy and to feel happy, use warm, expansive colours such as reds, yellows, and oranges.  Soothing, calming colours such as blues, indigos and purples will calm a person down and help them to relax.

Colours to Influence Mood

It is possible to use colours to influence your moods.  If you find yourself lacking in creativity or assertiveness, try using orange.  If you are the type of person that tends to push themselves too hard, use turquoise to help slow down.  If you are feeling angry, use blue to calm the anger.

Using Colour in Lights

Coloured lights are a powerful way to correct imbalances in the human body.  The colour light can be focused on a particular area or it can be used over the entire body to improve overall health and wellbeing.  One of its best uses is for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

Using Colour in Our Clothes

The colours that we wear in our clothes contribute both to our healing and to our moods.  Therefore clothes should be chosen in order to balance the chakras, treat particular problems, boost energy, enhance or change mood, or to alleviate an emotional state.

Colours in Food and Drink

It is important to eat a mixture of foods in all different colours.  The different colours will have different effects on the body but as an example, white foods will cleanse and purify the body while purple and indigo foods help with calm, relaxation and weight gain.

As far as drinks go, you can make smoothies or drinks with the specific colour of a charka, mixed with a white liquid such as milk, soy milk, rice milk, coconut milk or yoghurt.  The white liquid contains the benefits of all the colours of the spectrum.
