Women’s health is an umbrella term for all the issues that commonly affect women.  Some examples of these conditions may include menstrual problems (endometriosis, painful periods), menopause, infertility management, pregnancy care, breastfeeding, and breast problems.  Beauty therapies are also included.

Pregnancy Care

There is a particular focus on pregnancy care such as:

  • nutritional support for preconception, pregnancy and post-pregnancy
  • pregnancy massage (offered after the first trimester)
  • help with exercise routines pre and post pregnancy
  • breastfeeding
  • settling techniques for the baby
  • morning sickness relief
  • the natural induction of labour or help with a breech presentation
  • general wellbeing during pregnancy

Fertility, Hormones and Other Areas

Natural therapy practitioners that focus on women’s health also focus on other areas besides pregnancy care such as:

  • pre-menstrual syndrome
  • painful periods
  • menopause
  • hormonal problems (using natural hormones)
  • fertility problems
  • thrush
  • polycystic ovarian syndrome
  • endometriosis
  • weight loss management
  • thyroid problems

Beauty Therapies

Beauty therapies, such as those found in a day spa, can be used for relaxation, pampering, rejuvenating the skin and other purposes.  Some services that are available include:

  • laser and pulsed light hair reduction
  • photo rejuvenation
  • aromatherapy
  • microdermabrasion
  • treatment for skin conditions such as rosacea, veins, scars, pigmentation and acne
  • massage therapies
  • facial and body treatments
  • waxing
  • spray tanning
  • hand and feet therapies

Modalities

Many modalities are available to help in the treatment of women’s health issues.  A short list is below, but please keep in mind that this list is not exhaustive, so it is a good idea to ask your chosen practitioner if they are able to treat women’s health issues.
