Trusting Your Intuition

Intuition is defined as knowledge gained of something without the use of reasoning or the 5 basic senses. It is based on hunches, insights, visions, gut feelings and is often referred to as the sixth sense. In addition to your 5 regular senses, relying on intuition can help you advance mentally, emotionally and spiritually at a much faster rate than one who is limited to information obtained from the 5 senses.

Intuition is based on the idea that everything is connected. Answers to your innermost questions are everywhere and you can use your intuition to know those answers anytime and anywhere.

While everyone is equipped with intuition, you may need to develop your intuition before you can rely on it to make decisions and the right choices in life.

Here are 4 simple ways that may help you develop your intuition:

Clear your mind

Trusting Your IntuitionIntuition involves emptying your mind of thought and worry, and acting with the knowledge that you are on the right path. Thoughts and worries from daily activities can prevent you from listening to your inner voice. The best way to get a clear mind is by being alone in a quiet place that is free from noise and other distractions. Close your eyes and slowly inhale and exhale. When other thoughts start to distract you, you can center yourself by focusing on breathing. This produces a state of calm and relaxation and may be used to relieve you from stress whenever you need it.

Listen to your body

Your mind and body are closely connected. Studies show that an optimistic mindset promotes wellness while a negative one can impair it. Before making a decision, ponder on a question and listen to your body’s signals. When you feel energized, comfortable and calm, it is your body’s way of telling you that you are on the right track. If you develop a sick feeling in your stomach or a lump in your throat, your body is rejecting the idea that you are contemplating.

Develop positive energy

Your body is composed of subtle energy that can affect your mood and well-being. Positive energy feels invigorating, compassionate and supportive while negative energy is tiring, unkind and critical. Use this sense to determine who among your friends is energizing and who saps your strength.

Listen to your dreams

Intuition is used to interpret messages you receive through your dreams. Tap into your dreams by writing them down in a dream journal as soon as you wake up. Dreams carry meanings that may manifest in your life.

While everyone is equipped with subconscious wisdom, mental clutter and poor health can prevent you from tapping that source of intelligence. It is your intuition or your inner voice which helps to manifest your subconscious wisdom. Intuition enables you to solve problems and guide you in the right direction. Listening to your intuition can also help you improve your health and happiness. Trusting your intuition can shorten the time it takes to make decisions and can lead you to the best outcomes.
