Febrile Convulsions

Febrile convulsions (FC) are convulsions in infants or children that are triggered a sudden upsurge in temperature. FC is not a form of epilepsy, nor are they harmful or cause any kind of brain damage. Symptoms, however, include a loss of consciousness, twitching limbs, breathing complications, paleness, and eye rolling. Treatment is often not necessary however medication may be required to stop the convulsions, should they last longer than five minutes. The illness causing the fever also needs to be address for the febrile convulsions to halt.
