The designation gallstones refer to the masses of excessive cholesterol or bilirubin that have been accumulated in the gallbladder or bile ducts. The symptoms caused these masses include fever, jaundice, pain, intolerance of fatty foods, indigestion, colic and belching. Treatment for gallstones includes surgery, dissolution therapies, extraction and fragmentation of the masses of cholesterol. The dissolution can be stimulated naturally through increasing the amount of fibre in the diet and exercising. Naturopathy and herbal medicine may also be applied.
