Welcome to Osteopathic Care Centre
Whether you are old or young, unfit or fit, osteopathy will be able to help you! The Osteopathic Care Centre provides osteopathic treatments to the broader community and the sporting public. All Osteopaths are fully registered and qualified with the New Zealand Osteopathic Council (NZOC).
At Osteopathic Care Centre we work to assist you in achieving improved muscular-skeletal functioning and overall health. Our treatments are in-depth in their physical assessments and consultations ensuring that the presenting complaint is thoroughly investigated and diagnosed.
Osteopathy is a gentle medical modality which focuses on the diagnosis and the treatment of issues that are connected to functioning, mechanics and posture. An in-depth understanding and knowledge of the function and structure of the human musculoskeletal system allows the Osteopath to highlight the faults that occur as a result of mechanical stress or injury and to treat not simply the symptoms, but also the underlying causes of the issue. This allows the body to restore its normal function.
An accurate diagnosis is the prerequisite of successful treatment. A diagnosis is reached by taking a detailed medial history, followed by a thorough physical examination. The clients posture, the way in which they move and any exaggeration or restriction of movement are assessed and observed. If necessary, tests such as Xrays or any other pathological investigations may be advised. Treatments are always based on the individual and specific needs of each client.
Back pain in New Zealand is one of the nation’s greatest single cause of lost working days. Many individuals visit an Osteopath as a result of back pain, but osteopathy is also of great value in the treatment of other musculoskeletal conditions.

Osteopathic treatments seek to restore mobility, restore or improve function in restricted joints and the surrounding soft tissues to reduce spasm. A range of treatment modalities are employed, including osteopathic soft tissue, articulation and specific joint manipulation. Strengthening, stretching or mobility exercises may be prescribed and the treatment programme may also include advice on diet, posture, lifestyle and ergonomics.
