About me:
I'm an internationally certified EFT practitioner and trainer living in Auckland’s East Coast Bays in New Zealand. As well as my family and work activities I enjoy puzzles and mysteries, spontaneous road trips (where we purposefully get lost) and exploring the great outdoors. EFT has made a huge difference in my life, bringing perspective and focus, and allowing me to develop my natural talents and skills to a high level. I experience a deep satisfaction from sharing what I’ve come to think of as the gift of EFT – the deep knowledge that, no matter what, you can always do something to bring relief and greater perspective to any experience. “Stuck” need never be in your vocabulary again. It’s the best job in the world! What I love is that your essential self is always communicating with you via your body, your unconscious choice of words, metaphor etc to help you understand what’s really going on for you. I love helping clients to tap into their secret language and use it release whatever is blocking them from living life to the full. About EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
EFT is a blend of two recognized approaches to health: mind body medicine and acupuncture, but without the needles. In essence, when using EFT we simply pay attention to our experience as we perceive it, and tap gently on “energy points” on our body. This smoothes out any disruptions in your energy field associated with that experience. As the energy flows more smoothly the negative intensity dissolves quickly and effortlessly, revealing your inner truths about the experience. This leaves you free to add a more useful perspective to the experience and move forwards. EFT is safe and easy; everyone can enjoy and benefit from the deep relaxation and mental clarity that accompanies an EFT session. It is a wonderful tool by which, through your own efforts, you can experience a dramatic difference in your lifestyle, success and sense of well being. EFT is not mind control or brain washing; you retain self awareness and self control while revealing and releasing your self limiting beliefs and accelerating healthy changes in feeling, thinking and behavior. Clinical experience has shown that as your overall systems become more balanced through EFT, clients have shown significant improvement in many areas including, arthritis, digestive disorders, learning disorders, headaches, stress, enuresis, chronic pain, endocrine disorders, post operative recovery and much more. My framework:
I work from the perspective that you are wonderful, just as you are. Nothing needs to change about the essential you at all. As you travel along life’s highways you can get a bit windblown and dusty and the wonderfulness get’s hidden from view, and you can even forget that you are not the dust but the person underneath it! My job is to gently brush away the dust, the experiences and the beliefs we formed as a result of them, and let your true self shine forth. We each have our own unique specialness, a combination of characteristics, talents and a insights. EFT helps reveal the true you, and allows you to use everything you have to the best of your abilities. It won’t make you something you’re not, but will allow you to do the best you possibly can. I use the art of focusing, looking deeply within with a loving curious attitude, to notice our responses to the things which make us uncomfortable in some way. Once we have noticed, we use EFT to remove the resistance to the truth of that experience, and move to a more expanded awareness. Clients are often surprised at how powerful this experience can be and how quickly they can change perspective. Old patterns of responding fall away and your inner beauty is revealed. EFT is client led – my job is to help you focus in ways that are useful to reveal aspects of your experience you may not have considered. It is all based on your experience of you, and revealing your own inner knowledge. Along the way clients learn to view themselves with more love and compassion, knowing they have done the best they could given all the circumstances of their being. Rather than judge and assign blame, they take response-ability and get curious about their past reactions, release unhelpful beliefs and refocus their attention on creating the life they want to be living now. I abide by the codes of ethics of the AAMET (Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Therapies) which cover professional responsibilities and client care. What I offer:

Disaster Trauma: Emotional First Aid ©Liz Hart 2010, EFT Beyond Relief, www.lizhart.com
When disaster strikes, its impact is far and wide. Those caught up in the immediate area can be flooded by strong emotions as they cope with the dangers and losses which can reduce their ability to take appropriate action. First line responders – the police, fire brigade, army, civil defense etc – are faced with some horrific scenes and desperate need, long hours and often limited resources to deal with the problems. Knowing they are needed to remain functional, their feelings can be buried only to re-appear at a later time as Post Traumatic Stress. Even those away from the disaster zone can be strongly impacted by the sights and reports through the media, and their concern for those who are in danger. We become glued to our TV as we watch the disaster unfolds – think 9/11 – and our thoughts become preoccupied by the disaster. A sense of helplessness to be of service can take hold. We may develop survivor guilt - relief it’s not you and guilt for feeling that way. So what can we do to help ourselves and each other? EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique EFT is a fast and easy way to safely relieve and release some of the fear and distress so we can get on with the practical steps we need to take to rebuild our lives. It's normal when something like this happens to go into the fight, flight and freeze responses, and we often forget to think; the survival part of our brain takes over. EFT helps bring us back quickly into a sense of safety and our ability to act consciously and thoughtfully. A brief intervention using EFT with Hurricane Katrina survivors helped drop their distress levels from 8.14 to 0.76 on a 0-10 scale. As a very simple and safe* self help technique, EFT might be able to help you and your loved ones regain some equanimity and survive. ave You Been Traumatized? Being scared while a disaster is occurring doesn’t mean you’re traumatized. It’s when that fear becomes locked in, when you become emotional whenever the event comes back into your awareness, or when you think about it, experience physical symptoms such as shaking, muscle tension etc. So take a moment now and think about the disaster: notice if you get any uncomfortable feeling at the memory of it – a flutter in your tummy or tense muscles, or maybe your response is more emotional - tears. If your response is anything but just another thought (like “the bus is yellow”) then EFT can help you let those feelings go so you can be more comfortable. If you find yourself not wanting to think about the event that can often be a sign of trauma too. Self Help with EFT Our first priority is to calm and settle ourselves down, so we can respond more usefully. EFT involves gently tapping on certain acupuncture “energy points” on your face and body while you focus on the internal reactions you are experiencing. Follow these simple steps:
  1. Keeping your eyes open, guess at your level of distress when you recall the disaster, on a 0 (no distress) to 10 (extremely distressed) scale, what number would you give yourself?
  2. Tap quickly on the side of either hand just below the pinky and above the wrist, the Karate chop point, and say “Even though I feel distressed by the disaster, I accept myself.”
  3. Now tap on each of the following points with your bunched up fingers, while saying this “Reminder phrase” at each point “this distress”
    • Top of your head
    • Between eyebrows
    • Outside edge of your eye
    • Under your eye
    • Under your nose
    • Under your lips
    • Top of your chest bone (sternum)
    • 4” below your armpit
    • If you feel very upset and it’s difficult to talk, just keep tapping anyway (about 7 taps per point. Tap until you feel calm enough to say the words again.
  4. Take a deep breath in and let it go
  5. Now guess at your distress level again. Repeat this process from step 2 till it is zero.
  6. Close your eyes and this time recall the disaster and rate your distress level again. Repeat the tapping sequence until you can recall the event without distress.
You may notice that, as you recall the disaster, each time you focus on it in different ways; your response might change from fear of being hurt, fear for your family and friends, isolation, loss, panic, disorientation, etc. You can use words that describe your new focus or reaction each time you repeat step 2 (e.g. “Even though I feel isolated by the disaster, I accept myself”). Change the words at step 3 to match (e.g. “feeling isolated”). With each new focus (aspect) your intensity will rise and fall. This is normal and a sign you are being successful in letting go more and more of the elements that have contributed to your distress.** You can use this process alone or together with family and friends. When tapping together everyone says the same words and takes turns to say how they are feeling. Many people find this very comforting and reassuring and can relieve feelings of isolation. Parents may wish to monitor their children’s participation in any group process. Helping Others EFT can be used to help not only ourselves but others, even those not actually with us by surrogate tapping. This is a simple process whereby we tap on the karate chop as above and simply describe the upsetting thoughts and feelings of the person we are intending to help e.g. "Even though Sarah is really scared of the aftershocks, she loves and accepts herself" or "Even though Jack's afraid to go to sleep in case the building falls on him, he loves and accepts himself." Use the underlined phrase as the reminder phrase while you tap around the points listed in 3 above. Focus on one thought / feeling at a time and do a few rounds of tapping for each thought / emotion as we can't readily assess the recipient’s intensity. Any relief will be welcome.

"I was so impressed with the result that I had to write you this testimonial, Liz. And I also must say how delighted I am to have found you and how impressed I am at the way you zero in on my body language and speech, and how you find just the right words, and emphasis, to take me to places within that I thought already cleared, and other places that I didn’t know even existed." Thank you, Liz, I’m very grateful. Warmest wishes, Gaia Singer, Auckland, NZ
"Thanks so much for the EFT session yesterday. (Especially at such short notice). I certainly felt so much more relaxed and in control last night. I had the best sleep for a long time and woke up this morning with no feeling of anxiety what so ever. Once again thanks so much for all your help. George H, AUckland Business Owner
"Thanks so much for your expert help via Skpye yesterday Liz. We are all feeling much more setted and calm despite the continuing aftershocks (following Christchurch earthquake). Joey (age 6) even slept through the whole night without waking - a big change from the previous few nights or tears and shaking." Sarah Temple, Christchurch
