About Me - Alda Lee
Originally from sunny Gisborne, I trained at Otago University and have more than 30 years experience in helping people towards living a more balanced lifestyle through healthy eating habits. My background in nutrition comes from a number of years in the hospital arena then moving on to the private sector where I have been in private practice for over 20 years addressing all of the health issues listed.
I was a senior lecturer at AUT University, where I had been teaching in the School of Hospitality and Tourism, for over 20 years.
Your first visit is about analysing your current health, personal concerns and where you want to go and what you want to achieve. By working with you, I will develop a personalized eating plan for you.
This will then be followed by regular follow up visits to assess your progress and keep you motivated toward achieving your goals.

Prior seeing Alda, I had many digestive problems when I was younger, constant indigestion, heartburn, vomiting and diarrhoea. The bouts over the years became more frequent and after moving to New Zealand they became much worse. Five years of constant diarrhoea to the point of difficulty getting out of the house, pains and food poisoning symptoms, these reached an ultimate about five years ago and I was sent to see a specialist Stephen Pearson. He warned me that it didn’t look good and I was really prepared to hear the worst. I had lost a lot of weight and everything I ate simply went through me. I was living on a diet of chicken and rice and still having problems keeping it inside of me.
After the colonoscopy and endoscope, Mr Pearson informed me it was a dietary issue and put me in touch with Alda, this lady I have to say changed my life.
I was sceptical at first, feeling so unwell for so long, I felt very low, but in pure desperation I would try anything.
The warmth and help that I received from Alda, was beyond my expectations. She created a plan for my new diet, a process she helped me with weekly at first, then fortnightly, then monthly. Improvement took a couple of months, working out the things that in fact I thought I couldn’t eat when these were the food groups I could eat.
Her constant support gave me new confidence in myself, and changed my whole way of looking at food and trying new things.
To this day when I fall off track, I will make an appointment which gives me the confidence once again and I realise where I fell off track.
I cannot express my gratitude to this incredible lady, and have encouraged many others to go and see her.
Thank you Alda you have changed my life and my whole perspective on food and diet. I will never forget your txts and constant support.
Much love Nicki Gillson
"I am 43 years old and for as long as I can remember I have lived with the symptoms of IBS – bloating, diarrhoea, pain, always having to find out where the nearest toilet is whenever I go out, avoiding eating big meals, restricting my diet when travelling just to avoid any ‘disaster.’
After the appropriate investigations and getting a formal diagnosis of IBS, I was referred to Alda Lee. From the first appointment with Alda, I felt like there would be an end to it all!
She understood my symptoms and the social difficulty associated with them. We talked about different food groups and their part in the digestive system and I was started on the FODMAPS diet to find which food group(s) were the culprit.
It has been a few months now, and I am thrilled with the results – flat tummy – even after eating a decent sized meal, and a significant reduction in all my IBS symptoms.
Thank you Alda for changing my life!! The internet can only provide so much information, it is the personal touch, the knowledge and the professionalism that has made the difference.
I've really appreciated your help over the last 2 years, keeping my weight loss to a minimum as I've been going through a tough time. I wouldn't have made it through as well as I have without you truly.
Thank you for your expertiswe, kindness and understaning.
“I started going to see Alda when I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. From the moment I stepped into her office, she was a delight! Her encouragement, her thoughtfulness and her yummy food ideas have seen my Diabetes readings drop dramatically. Along with that, my weight has plummeted by 12kg without any problems. I haven’t felt like I’ve been deprived of food at all. I’d encourage you to see Alda for any diet concerns. You will not be disappointed!”
I came to Alda to seek help in lowering my cholesterol levels, which were extremely high at 8.2. Alda helped me to make specific changes to my diet and lifestyle that made a big difference to my health. After only six weeks my cholesterol level dropped to 6.4. Six months on, my cholesterol level has continued to improve and I have lost over 15 kg and still losing. Alda's advice was practical, realistic and I have felt fully supported to make sustainable changes to my lifestyle.
