The time is now to make powerful and effective changes to your life About Helen My passion is to help and empower people to help themselves. Initially I trained as a physiotherapist and then after having my 4 children I retrained as a massage therapist. My massage therapy training included aspects of reflexology, aromatherapy, Bowen Therapy, advanced massage techniques and clinical neuromuscular therapy techniques. I became fascinated by the mind / body connection: Most people realise that when they are stressed they are more prone to illness and muscular aches and pains. I wanted to find a way to help people relieve physical and mental disturbance and imbalance. This lead to my training as a hypnotherapist and an NLP practioner. These have taught me many powerful ways to help people reach their full potential, rid themselves of unwanted habits and to achieve a feeling of fulfilment and freedom. Hypnotherapy Hypnosis is also known as trance or altered state of consciousness. These are natural states that you drift in and out of through the day. When does it happen? You are in this state frequently if you are concentrating on something of great interest; for instance if you are absorbed in a movie or a computer game. You can also experience it when you daydream or when you drive and suddenly realise that you cannot remember the last few kilometres that you have driven. Why does it work? For there to be a change in behaviour there needs to be a change at the subconscious mind level. People often feel as though part of them wants to change the behaviour (the conscious mind) and part of them won't stop (the subconscious mind). Like a mental tug of war. In hypnosis it is much easier to change behaviour at the subconscious mind level and so you are working consciously and subconsciously to achieve the desired result. Hypnotherapy is useful helping people to resolve an amazing array of problems and challenges. Most people know of it's usefulness helping people to free themselves of unwanted habits and also to help them increase their confidence in a variety of situations and to help improve their self esteem. Less well known is how it can help people to deal with insomnia. Hypnosis and insomnia I am very interested in helping people overcome insomnia and have developed a series of strategies to help people 'reclaim sleep.' Imagine a full night's sleep and waking refreshed and full of energy and ready to face the day's challenges! NLP Neuro linguistic programming: a set of insights and skill that enble you to run your life more successfully. It has been variously described as the technology of the mind, the science of achievement and the study of success in human performance. From my perspective it an amazing tool to help people to become more resourceful and to overcome any 'mental blocks' in their lives. Massage The physical benefits of massage include: it relieves muscle tension and stiffness and so relieves stress and aids relaxation. It improves the circulation of the blood and movement of lymph fluids and so fosters faster healing of strained muscles and sprained ligaments. It helps reduce pain and swelling and this in turn helps reduce formation of excessive scar tissue. It helps reduce muscle spasms and also reduces blood pressure. It helps relieve headaches and other pains around the body that are caused by trigger points in the muscles. It can help alleviate discomfort during pregnancy. It enhances health and nourishment of the skin and by releasing tight muscles it can help with posture. The mental benefits include: relieving mental stress and so giving a feeling of peace of mind. It helps the person to improve their ability to self monitor signs of stress and respond appropriately. Enhances the capacity for calm thinking and creativity. Emotionally it satisfies the need we all have for a nurturing touch. It helps reduce anxiety levels. Also with the increased body awareness created it gives enhanced awareness of the mind body connection. When can you come?
