Welcome to Russley Sports Massage

Our Treatments Include

Neuromuscular technique Neuromuscular therapy is a comprehensive program of soft-tissue manipulation, which balances the body’s central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system. Based on neurological laws that explain how the central nervous system initiates and maintains pain, the goal is to help relieve the pain and dysfunction by understanding and alleviating the underlying cause. Neuromuscular therapy can help individuals who experience distortion and biomechanical dysfunction, which is often a symptom of a deeper problem. It is also used to locate and release spasms and hyper contraction in the tissue, eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain, rebuild the strength of injured tissues, assist venous and lymphatic flow, and restore postural alignment, proper biomechanics, and flexibility to the tissues. Sports injury rehabilitation Sports massage involves a combination of neuromuscular, relaxation massage and stretching. It is tailored to the individual athlete based on their type of sport, phase of training and medical history. It is important as a preventative therapy and also very affective for injury recovery. Lymphatic drainage When the lymphatic system becomes blocked lymph nodes may become swollen. Lymphatic drainage is believed to reduce blockage, which promotes health in the lymphatic system as well as other bodily systems such as the circulatory, respiratory, muscular and endocrine systems. Lymphatic drainage reduces puffy, swollen limbs dues to lymphodema or inflammatory responses after injury. Lymphatic drainage therapy consists of a manual massage. A lymphatic drainage massage primarily focuses on specific lymph nodes and points of the body, as well as the natural flow of the lymphatic system. Relaxation Relaxation Massage is a soothing technique with both physical and mental benefits. It uses slow, gentle, rhythmic strokes to settle physiological and neurological aspects of the body. Pregnancy and infant massage Pregnancy During pregnancy the body goes through numerous changes. Joints and muscles are under extra pressure. Massage can assist with pain management and have a calming affect on mother and baby. Russley Sports Massage has a pregnancy table which has a hole in the middle to allow for an expanding stomach. This enables a woman to lie face down and gives us better access to her back . This area tends to be a problem area during pregnancy... and what a rarity it is to be able to lie on your stomach! So come in and indulge yourself, whether it be a treatment or relaxation massage.... you deserve it!!

Testimonials

"....before I met Britt I was a lumbering elephant I am now a downhill Xena impersonator!" Trudy Jones "Without the tender ministrations of Brittany and Janet (and sometimes when required, anything but tender) I would not be able to have continue running for the last few years. It is through regular massage therapy, which is now a part of any training program I do, that have enabled me to recover for the next training session and to participate in marathon and ultra-distance events. "Janet, in particular, has gone out of her way to work with me in a holistic manner with stretches and exercises that have helped me to achieve the goal of running yet another Kepler Challenge when even making the start line looked to be seriously in jeopardy. "Both Brittany and Janet have experienced the highs and lows of distance running with Brittany having done Loop the Lake and several other local events and Janet having completed a Kepler Challenge as well as several half-marathons and it is a pleasure to exchange ideas and details of such events with them during therapy sessions." Martin Jagers
