SERVICES

Welcome to Circle Centre What is Indian Head Massage? As its name implies, Indian Head Massage has been developed from the traditional massage practices of India. From the barbers on the beach, mothers working with their new born babies to families working on each other, massage plays an important part of Indian ‘everyday’ life. This form, developed and adapted by Narendra Mehta in the early 80’s, draws on traditional Ayurvedic* methods combined with techniques to suit the western way of life. Because of the close working relationship between the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, head, face and ears, Indian Head Massage works on these major tension carrying areas. By working in this way, the whole body benefits physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Unlike other forms of massage, Indian Head Massage is practised with the client seated in a chair, fully clothed and without the need for oils. For this reason, Indian Head Massage can be done anywhere from the beach to the office. It can bring about a sense of deep relaxation in a very short time. *Ayurveda, a Sanskrit word meaning the ‘Science’ or ‘Wisdom of Life’, is an ancient philosophy based on a deep understanding of eternal truths about the human body, mind and spirit. Hopi Ear Candling Ear candling is a very gentle and safe way of working with ears. Many people think that hot wax is poured into the ear to help remove ear wax. This is far from the truth! The BioSun Candles we use @ Arcadia are hollow tubes made from organic linen, rolled in bees wax and a mixture of herbs (Sage, Camomile & St John’s wort), and have a small safety filter in them that prevents anything falling back into the ear canal. What Happens in a session? - First you lie down on one side. We then look into the ear with an otoscope to check for wax build up and any redness or inflammation. One end of the candle is lit, and the other end is gently placed in your ear creating a seal. We stay with you at all times and hold the candle, so there is no chance of you catching fire! The candles have 3 phases, firstly the smoke gently enters the ear and the mixture of herbs calm nerve endings and go to boost the bodies own immune system. Secondly the warmth from the candle gently warms and softens wax in the ear canal AND in the inner ear. Thirdly the candle acts as a chimney and draws wax from the ear canal. There is a quiet crackling noise created by the candle burning that is soothing and often people fall asleep! We then do a very gentle massage around the ear and on the face. You then turn over and we do the same with the other ear. It is important to do both ears as it affects our balance. Finally you lay on your back and receive a gentle massage of the neck, head and face. A session lasts just under an hour. Ear candling is suitable for all ages and even animals! It IS VERY GENTLE and very relaxing. It is not something new, it has been around for thousands of years, practised by many cultures from the Ancient Egyptians, Chinese to the Native Americans. If you have any questions please call in and see us and we will do our best to answer them for you. Benefits of a Hopi Ear Candling

  • What is ‘Holistic Massage’? Holistic’ massage is about treating the whole person and not just the physical. As the person receiving the massage you do not get worked on, rather worked with. This is a very different approach from a lot of techniques. Holistic massage is a combination of many disciplines (from relaxation, deep tissue, therapeutic massage, meridian massage, energy balancing and more) tailored to meet your needs at that time and not just a set routine followed each time. By working with you and responding to your needs throughout the massage, you get what you need and not what someone decides for you. Holistic massage on a regular basis can be seen as ‘preventative’, and not just working with muscles that are aching, tired and knotted. By bringing about deep relaxation, the whole body begins to work better, from the nervous system to the digestive system. It truly does work the whole body. Benefits of a Holistic Massage From deep relaxation to improved muscular movement and a sense of general well being or feeling ‘whole’. At a very deep level, holistic massage can release the personal history stored in the body tissue; this can lead to powerful changes in our energy and provide a vital and chemical ingredient in each persons’ process of growth and experience. The practitioner works from experiences in many taught disciplines as well as ‘life lessons’ and these are assembled to suit the personality of the practitioner. This creates harmony and well-being in the practitioner and therefore in the client. A warm, friendly and caring environment is created to help you with your very personal session. Sessions are of a length that suits your needs, but normally about an hour. Please allow extra time for the first session as we need to spend more time building a picture of your ‘whole body’ before negotiating what is your appropriate need. Here at Arcadia Organics, Holistic massage is practiced by Peter Woodgate. Peter is also experienced with working in a rehabilitate way for postoperative and accident clients as well as ‘everyday’ aches, pains and sprains. By looking at the whole body in a fresh way, issues that have effected the physical body for many years may be eased, relieving pain and discomfort. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have, so before you make a decision please feel free to, have a chat.
What is Spiritual Healing It is the balancing and bringing together the Physical, Emotional Mental and Spiritual whole of you, by using my lifetime of skills, experiences, education, maturity, personality, observations of people, with an ability to share all of the above in a relaxed, comfortable, informative and positive way to assist you to start feeling good about the whole of you. To share with you whatever is right at that time be it: Indian Head Massage, An alternative viewpoint in a distressing subject. A non judgemental listening heart. Holistic Pulsing to help the body release feelings no longer required. Healing to balance energy on all levels. Relaxation techniques to alleviate the constant mind chatter. Positive words for negative moments. Finding the true you with unconditional love. Using the laughter inside of you for those ‘blue’ days. I use humour, laughter and stories to help you to use the same in everyday life. To give negativity a run for its money. Some comments “Linda appeared in my life when I was seeking an alternative and complimentary approach to healing. At that time I was desperate to escape from the medical model’s label for the “dis ease” I had been identifying myself with.” BS “Linda’s approach as a spiritual healer helped me to bring balance and perspective to issues I was dealing with when I came to see her. Her creative use of visualizations together with her positive and encouraging way of working with me enabled me to gain many valuable insights and understanding of these issues. Linda has been a wonderful catalyst in helping me work through those issues.” B
ZERO BALANCING What, Where & How Zero Balancing (affectionately known as ‘ZeeBee’) is the true ‘bridging’ of Eastern & Western philosophy’s. Developed out of Osteopathy, Acupuncture and other Eastern disciplines, (but uses no manipulation or needles!), ZB is the art of balancing Body Energy with Body Structure through the use of touch. The core principle of ZB is that bone, being the densest part of the body, stores energy’s, ranging from trauma’s to emotional issues. By applying a series of balance points to the body, ZB gently reminds the body that it can, if it chooses to, release these stored energy’s, there by encouraging a clearer flow of energy, bringing about a clarity for the whole body on all levels. No claims are made about what conditions ZB can work with, as it recognises that we are all individual and each person will respond in a completely different way. A session consists of a brief medical history, then whilst seated on the massage table, evaluation of shoulders, upper back & the sacroiliac joint. Then lying down, the sacroiliac joint, lower spine, hips, feet, upper back and neck are worked with. Each area is evaluated with gentle pressure from the fingers, worked with then re-evaluated, with pauses to allow the body time to adjust. You are fully clothed throughout the whole session. It is suggested, although not always necessary, that 3 sessions are undertaken to allow the body to adjust, correct and align in it’s own gentle time and to access deep and underlying issues that may be present in the body. A session last about an hour, with the ZB itself taking about 30 - 40 minutes. You, as the receiver are in control at all times and if you are uncomfortable at any time we can stop the session. Most people find the sessions relaxing and invigorating at the same time. To find out more contact Peter (a Student of Zero Balancing), at Arcadia Organics Shop & Cafe, 265 High St, Motueka.
