Welcome to Evans Osteopaths
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment which looks mainly at problems within the musculo‑skeletal system, such as muscle and joint sprains and strains. Often these musculo‑skeletal problems cause abnormal joint movement patterns, muscular imbalance, nerve irritation, inflammatory changes and ultimately, degeneration of the joint structure.
Osteopaths use a 'hands on' manual approach to help patients overcome these changes by focusing on improving joint mobility (both spinal and peripheral) and reducing soft tissue restriction and muscle imbalance in the body

Evans Osteopaths are fully ACC accredited. If your problem is due to an accident we are able to fill out the necessary forms for you, you do not have to see your doctor first.
Qualifications
Neil Evans DO ND
Neil qualified from the British College of Naturopathy and Osteopathy in 1990. After qualifying he spent three years working in Hawkes Bay before returning to the UK. He then worked in a large multi‑disciplinary practice (employing 6 associate osteopaths) in East Yorkshire for eleven years. He was a partner in the practise for five years, where he was involved in the management and the day to day running of the business, as well as treating patients.
Neil returned to New Zealand with his wife and two young children (Zara and Toby), for a more laid back and relaxed life style.
He started "Evans Osteopaths" in October 2004. Neil is a keen sportsman and enjoys participating in squash, cycling, running and soccer.
As well as treating spinal problems he has a keen interest in treating and managing all sports injuries. Whilst in England Neil ran a dedicated sports injury clinic and looked after a number of netball, rugby and hockey teams.

Your first visit with us is approximately 30 minutes, depending on the complexity of your problem it may take a little longer as we need to gain an understanding of your complaint and perform the appropriate physical assessment.
Follow up appointments last about 30 minutes. We do not use any machines, so this time is spent with your osteopath performing "hands on" treatment and giving advice and exercises etc.
