About Low Level Laser Therapy
The different lengths of laser light have different healing applications. The light from the laser is distributed in the tissue in the shape of a ball or an egg. The shorter wave lengths of laser light are readily absorbed by blood and skin surface components. The wave lengths above and below 850 nm are avidly absorbed by superficial structure and tissue. These wave lengths are used in dermatology and cosmetics. The significant depth of penetration was noted with wave length around 850nm .The greater amount of photons is delivered with these waves. These waves are indicated for healing of deeper structure and can be used in Physiotherapy, Sport medicine and Veterinary medicine for treatment of many conditions.
The parameters which can influence healing effect with laser light are: Irradiation dose, Energy, Power, Frequency, Surface, and Time. The Irradiation dose is the amount of energy which is conducted into the tissue. The application of laser can be through a small point acupuncture points (AP) or through the larger areas like wounds, scars or burns. If the treatment of a large area is required, it is better to express irradiation dose as an energy density. Several formulas can be beneficial for the calculation of energy of photons which with laser is introduced to the tissue.
