About Larina Kay
Larina Kay is a strong, vibrant, caring and passionate woman. Who has a strong desire to help inspire other woman, believe that they are worth more, and find their true meaning in life. Larina has a Diploma in Counselling Level 6, and an Advanced Major in Trauma and Abuse. She is a member of New Zealand Association of Counsellors and has Provisional membership. She is also in the process of developing her own workshop program designed to help woman make healthy choices in life.
Larina Kay is available for speaking engagements, motivational seminars, and counselling sessions.
I feel Gods purpose in life for me, was to place me on this journey, so I could learn and take with me what I needed out of the experience and have a better understanding to help inspire, teach, educate and develop other woman reach our full potential.
Two years on, and as I read the pages I once lived I realise just how unhappy I was, and how far I have come, from that last day. I also realise that the book should be called Surviving Her! As I reflect on what I wrote. I now realize that, that’s the emotion and feelings you go through when you are in an emotional abusive relationship. And not only did I have my ex husband daily torment to deal with but also myself as a part of me still loved this man.
As I started to realize the truth of what kind of man he was, that childhood image of Prince Charming slower disappeared. Taking away my dream of happy ever after. I now wish I could say I am wiser to men, but I am not. But I realize that power and control has play a big part of my life, in the relationships I have had with men. Control is not love!
I haven’t found that 4 letter word that makes our heart flutter. Properly because I don’t know what it looks like. But as I read the pages of Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho. I believe Maria the main character explains it beautifully - "It hurts when I lost each of the various men I fell in love with. Now though, I am convinced that no one loses anyone, because no one owns anyone. - That is the true experience of freedom- Having the most important thing in the world without owning it!"
Counselling
Larina has a Diploma in Counselling Level 6, and an Advanced major in trauma and abuse. She is a member of New Zealand Association of Counsellors and has provisional membership. Through counselling Larina can help you to understand yourself, learn techniques and skills to help cope with difficulties, and to make changes which can help you feel more in control so that you can live a more happier and fulfilled life.
Currently working within the area of Trauma and Abuse. Larina specialists in Family Volience, Rape, sexual abuse, and Trauma. Larina is also an Victim Support approved counsellor.

I believe that you need to feel comfortable and relaxed, working with me, if you are to benefit from therapy sessions. I see us each as unquie individuals and I endeavour to be sensitive to your own needs, values, cultural and spiritual background. I believe it is important to work at your own pace, on what issues and goals you wish to work with, together.
All that is discussed is Confidential, except circumstances, such as a danger to yourself or others.
To maintain a high standard of clinical practise, I consult with a supervisor on a regular basis. This is done in such a way that you are not identified.
Larina is happy to met with you for the first session at no cost to the client, as she understands that you, as the client, need to be comfortable and create an rapport with her.
I am also able to help clients access funding through Work and Income where appropriate to help meet costs.
Larina is available to counsel in the Canterbury and South Canterbury regions.
