Free to move, free to live The Feldenkrais® Method of movement education helps you develop awareness of how you use your body, improving how you move, feel, and live. Free to Move, run by Oli Wiles in Wellington, New Zealand, offers:
  • group Feldenkrais classes
  • one-on-one Feldenkrais sessions
  • workplace Feldenkrais and yoga classes
  • yoga for mums with small children.
Feldenkrais – something for everyone People in chronic pain, desk-bound businesspeople, musicians and athletes seeking better performance, seniors battling stiffness, mums rebounding from pregnancy … Whoever you are, Feldenkrais can help you shift movement habits that cause pain or limit performance. It’s a liberating alternative to therapies and techniques that impose change from the outside. Freedom from is freedom to Dr Moshé Feldenkrais, the man behind the method, said: 'If you know what you do, you can do what you want.' By becoming aware of damaging, unconscious movement habits, you can free yourself from them, and when you do that, anything is possible. About Oli Wiles Experience & qualifications Oli Wiles is a certified Feldenkrais teacher and member of the New Zealand Feldenkrais Guild. He is a graduate of the Wellington Feldenkrais Professional Training Programme and has studied anatomy at the Wellington School of Massage. Oli is also a qualified Hatha yoga instructor and has been teaching for nearly 10 years. He studied under the late Pattabhi Jois, the guru of Astanga yoga in Mysore, India, and completed a Yoga Alliance teacher certification under Iyengar-trained Nicky Knoff. Influences Aside from Oli’s passion for Feldenkrais and yoga, he’s a Brazilian jiu jitsu enthusiast and currently holds a blue belt. His understandings of the body and mind are also informed by meditation and strength training. Oli is always on the hunt for information that challenges and expands on accepted beliefs, including his own. Books on anatomy, somatics, psychology, and neurology populate his shelves. Reading about neuroplasticity while preparing the kids’ dinner is Oli at his multitasking best. Oli is also inspired by his two young daughters and, in turn, his interests inspire them. They have named his model skeleton Cecil and will freely point out the pelvis and scapula. He can often be seen with them at the local park, suspended from the jungle gym and wearing his ‘gorilla feet’ (Vibram Fivefingers). Oli lives with his family in Island Bay, Wellington. He loves the fact that he can walk or cycle almost everywhere in this great little community by the sea.
