About Us
Hi my name is Marcia I am a trained Beauty therapist all the way from Brazil with over 15 years experience.
Beauty and football to Brazilians is like Rugby and the environment to New Zealanders, It's just imposed on you at a young age and you can't help but see it all around you. Whether you love it or hate it it's just there.
Your first introduction to the beauty world in Brazil is when you are about 12 where tips and tricks are passed down from mother to daughter on how to maximize your potential and look great whilst your doing it. There are expectations of what you should know from waxing to being able to do your eyebrows, nails and skin care.
This tradition has created a huge beauty industry where we now have many state of the art surgery's and beauty studios that america and many other counties take full advantage of.
One thing I noted in my travels around Europe and NZ was that there were a number of tricks (secrets) that seemed not to be well known. I love working in beauty therapy and as you will find out it shows in my work, I get alot of enjoyment out of delivering results for people who leave the studio happy and feeling great.
Why have I started Brazilian Secrets?
It was a no brainer to me to start my own studio up here in Wellington doing what I love and sharing my secrets with you so started Brazilian Secrets Beauty Studio. My philosophy is to live love and feel great.

One of my favorite Brazilian beauty secrets is my own waxing "recipe" developed many years ago in my home town Ipatinga. It's a fabulous "sugaring" wax and technique using a special wax made from natural and fresh products including lemon and Chamomile. Now of course sourced in NZ. The Sugaring technique that I use derives from traditional sugaring methods which is still quite rare to find a salon that can do the real deal in Brazil.
My sugaring mixture is applied at room temperature and can be used for Brazilian bikini waxing, upper lip waxing, eyebrow waxing, forearm waxing, underarm waxing, leg waxing, etc.
Of course pulling your hairs out by the root is always going to hurt but I am often given feed back on how smoothly the experience was with less pain then usual and a fantastic overall result. Find out more by reading the page on Sugaring.

waxing given the healthy ingrediants used and relative ease of the treatment.

Sugaring
How do we do that? I’m glad you asked,
There are several ways to have your hair removed including hot waxing and sugaring. But there are 2 different ways of sugaring too. One is very similar to hot waxing the other is a more traditional form of sugaring that is quite unique and rare, this is one of the secrets we know in giving you the wax you will rave about to your friends.

- SUGARING™ THE RIGHT WAY -
What are the differences? Okay, it's still pulling out hair from the root, but most people find it less painful than waxing.
All Natural: The Sugar paste is made from food-derived ingredients like sugar, water, and lemon juice with a couple of other natural ingredients like chamomile. No crazy chemicals and synthetics like commercially made hot wax. (Most waxes are made of resins and contain artificial fragrances, dyes, chemicals, and preservatives).
Clean & No Fuss: Sugar paste is water soluble, meaning you can clean off any residue left on the skin with just plain water, unlike regular wax that needs to be taken off with a special wax remover or baby oil, etc
Healthy & Smooth: It is very gentle and can be used over an area that was just sugared but had missed some hairs, without irritation. Sugaring will only take away dead skin cells, unlike waxing which also removes the live skin cells, so it actually exfoliates whilst removing the hairs. Sugaring just grabs the hairs.
It leaves the skin feeling much smoother & healthier.
Although you can be allergic to all sorts of ingredients, natural or not, it’s more common to be allergic to artificial fragrances and ingredients like those found in hot waxes.
My Wax is applied at room temperature, so no chance of it causing a skin burn.
Waxing
Brazilian waxing is where we remove your hair from the bikini area in its entirety.
This type of waxing is called 'a Brazilian' because it is most commonly associated with Brazilian women who are famous for wearing Mini Bikinis or bikinis that leave little to the imagination.
It is often thought of as a more involved form of bikini waxing which used to be for ladies wanting to drip dry in the sun whilst getting a silky smooth tan. Now it seems to be a prerequisite for the modern woman, even men have begun to see the benefits in the practice.

Waxes that completely remove the hair are called 'Full-Brazilian', or sometimes 'Hollywood' it depends on the studio you go to. Sometimes Full Bikini Wax is used and referred to as FBW.
