SERVICES

My role at BE. Therapy & Life Coaching is to guide and support you on your journey of becoming the person you truly want to be. My approach: I listen with warmth and respect to clients and establish what their needs and goals are for counselling and the future. I then help clients develop clarity in their life by working through the problems or issues they are facing which may be resisting them from reaching their goals. By working through the problems and patterns of behaviour, clients gradually gain increased awareness, clarity and motivation to change. They often then go on to make positive changes in their life, leading to a better relationship with themselves and also with those around them. I often see people's self worth and confidence increase as they self invest and come up with their own tailor made strategies to assist with any crisis they may face.

The Courage to BE - Bree Nicholls My path to becoming a therapist and life coach began in my earliest years. My mother was, and still is a family therapist. Seeing as I was the youngest of five children (with two more siblings to arrive seven and ten years later), I spent a lot of time with my mum at her place of work. I loved feeling like I was a part of these inspiring people who committed themselves to assisting and supporting others. I was interested in understanding human behaviour and through my large family network, I got a lot of practice! I felt like I could understand how people were feeling through observing the verbal and non-verbal behaviours that were expressed and I knew how to respond to generate a positive outcome. Throughout my school years I always knew that one day I would work with people in a therapeutic context. I spent time as a mediator and regularly connected with the guidance counsellor. However I instead followed another passion of mine - media studies - and ended up working for eight years on and off in an advertising agency and then a small PR firm. In 2009, I decided it was time to explore more of the world and I followed my heart to France for two months. My lifestyle in New Zealand had taken its toll on me mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. In France I finally had the opportunity to simply be. I spent my day’s free, writing, thinking - just being in my existence. When I landed back in New Zealand the path I wanted to take suddenly became clear. It was time to be true to my purpose and to begin taking the steps towards my new career; of supporting others in times of emotional need and assisting people to grow towards their best personal and professional self. I gained my Bachelor of Counselling and was accepted as an intern counsellor at Youthline, where I still work occasionally to this day; supporting people from a variety of ages, cultures and sexual orientation. I now have a private practice in Birkenhead Point and Orewa House.
Testimonials
“Bree was probably the best thing to happen to me this year. For a long time I felt like I was going around in circles, until I came and met with Bree. As a person, I am generally quite sceptical when it comes to Therapy or counselling in general – however decided that I was at a point in my life where I was willing to give anything ago. After only a few sessions with Bree I could see my way of thinking changing rapidly and found that I had a renewed sense clarity and direction in my life. I would; and have recommended Bree and what she does to a number of people, she has a unique approach, and is always open and understanding of issues you bring to the session. I am so grateful for her help and the sense of direction she has given me.” "My time with Bree wasn't my first counselling experience, but it was definitely the most beneficial. From the very first session to our last, I found it very easy to talk openly with Bree due to the relaxed environment she sets. If you are thinking of attending therapy or needing a friendly ear to talk to Bree is the person for you. Her personable approach with an understanding of peoples issues makes her an ideal therapist for all walks of life. I'm forever grateful to the guidance and advice she provided."
