SERVICES

Reflexology is an amazing therapy that can rejuvenate, relax and rebalance the entire body. My name is Claire Sparks, I qualified as a Reflexologist in 2002 and I am a professional member of reflexology New Zealand. I am very aware of the continual changes within natural therapies, and am keen to learn more about different modalities to enhance my practice. I am still amazed by the powerful way reflexology works and how it can help boost your vitality and feel fantastic! I have studied maternity, ayervedic and aura-soma reflexology and combine this knowledge to give you a totally unique treatment. My aim is to totally relax you into a deep relaxed state that will renew your physical and emotional strength to measure up to the demands of daily living. Origin Reflexology has been practiced for as long as 5ooo years in China and Egypt. The oriental combined with western theories bring us this unique art of reflexology. How it works The feet contain congestion and tension that mirror tension in the corresponding part of the body. By using various finger techniques and pressure the sensory nerve pathways are cleared to improve energy flow. This improves all body systems, and is especially good for the circulatory and lymphatic/immune system. These points are just where you would expect to see them if the picture of the body was projected onto the soles of the feet.
  • Toes (Head and Neck)
  • Ball of Foot (Chest)
  • Arch of foot (Spine)
  • Middle of foot (Abdominal area)
  • Heel (Pelvic area)
  • Right foot (Right side of body)
  • Left foot (Left side of body) Reflexology aims at treating the person rather than the illness or problem and is a comprehensive system of preventative health and health maintenance. It is so important to cope with our stresses otherwise our bodies absorb the stress and this is when health problems occur. Some common stress related health symptoms relieved with reflexology are
  • Migraines
  • Insomnia
  • Constipation/diarrhoea
  • High blood pressure
  • Mood swings Having trained as a nurse I am interested in the prevention of illness using reflexology and also use reflexology on people with health issues. I know that reflexology helps reduce symptoms for people with motor neurone, multiple sclerosis and also works well with people having cancer treatments. During my training I researched the use of reflexology and cancer care and found out that it is a beneficial and effective way to reduce pain and anxiety for people with cancer. I show an interest in maternity reflexology. This can help with:
  • conception and fertility problems.
  • reducing oedema and fluid retention
  • reducing nausea and vomiting
  • breathing difficulties when the baby pushes up on the diaphragm in the third trimester. Reflexology is used by midwives in Australia. There are certain points on the feet that can assist the natural progress of labour. Speaking from personal experience reflexology helped me relax and also assisted in an uncomplicated labour. I now use reflexology on my children and so far it has helped with teething pains, ear infections, colds. They love a foot massage after a bath before bed as it aids them into a peaceful sleep…. Ayervedic reflexology is a new and exciting way of doing reflexology and brings together Indian and modern reflexology into a powerful way of working with the bodies energy systems. The treatment involves working on energy centres located on the feet called marma points, these points are gently massaged and a kasa bowl and sesame oil are also used. Earlier this year I attended a body wisdom course and am enjoying learning about chakra balancing and the use of colour and crystals. This led me to complete a course in aura-soma and reflexology in August. This is an amazing use of colour in a bottle. It can help you with health issues, challenges in life and help discover your special gifts. The bottle contains living energy of colour vibration, herbs, essential oils, gems and crystals. I look forward to using this powerful therapy with you.
